Problem outlined by client:
Cylinder was too slow to move for their client’s needs. Unlatching (cylinder lock) issues and slow to unlatch. Wanted the cylinder cycle increased.
Solution provided by ZX:
Dismantled and investigated reasons for slow cycling. Gallery redesigned and valve respec’d. Manufactured and tested. Cycling increased to the satisfaction of Robur and its client.

Problem outlined by client:
Client required a cylinder to measure the anchoring strength of each Earthbolt that was installed to ensure that the tilt slab concrete panels would be safely restrained and reports could be provided to Worksafe if required. Cylinder needed to be handled by multiple operators without being damaged.
Solution provided by ZX:
Discussed options with client and understood their specific requirements. Checked digger mountings and designed fittings to suit. Calculated stress testing load requirements. Manufactured and tested. Client happy with result and unit is continually in use.

Problem outlined by client:
Manufacturing cost of original unit; failure rate (welding etc); in-field damage (unprotected design – feed lines unshielded and more); profile constraints when installed.
Solution provided by ZX:
Dismantled and investigated reasons for failure, infield damage and profile constraints. Redesigned unit to be manufactured from a single billet with internal galleries for feed line. New design also eliminated much of the welding needed by previous unit. Cycle tested and pressure tested. Reviewed with client who approved new model. Manufacturing completed and now in common use by Robur clients.

Problem outlined by client:
Client had been using a pneumatic driven cylinder for glue measuring however it was not precise enough or controllable enough to provide perfect results every time. Failure rate during application was too high and wastage of glue product was too high. Client wondered whether a hydraulic cylinder would better suit his needs and cut waste & cost.
Solution provided by ZX:
ZX reviewed clients needs and issues with pneumatic cylinder. Designed a sample hydraulic cylinder and ran on a test bed to check accuracy, repeatability and overall control. Minor adjustments made and new hydraulic cylinder made and supplied to the client. Client is extremely happy with results and savings on wasted glue.
